Fishing and Beer Touring in San Diego!

In March I visited my buddy Tom in San Diego.  We wasted no time hitting the water on his friend's boat and cruised the bay.  I managed to land a handful of "lizard fish", but the elusive sea bass was not to be had.  We managed to throw in a plethora of beer tasting, and also tour the USS Midway. A great trip!

Looking back at the 2013/2014 Ice Fishing Season

Ice fishing got off to a bang in 2013/2014.  There was fishable ice the week of Thanksgiving, and the early freeze gave way for huge crappie bites!  Unfortunately, things got cold fast, and late December through February were rough fishing.  I even broke down and bought a Clam shelter and a portable heater....I guess I got soft living in Cincinnati!  The highlight of the season was fishing with my friends Brandon and Hudson near Cornell, WI on some pothole lakes.  Hudson's daughter, Josie, showed us how to catch the big crappies!

March & April in the Driftless

It was a fantastic early season in the Driftless! After a harsh winter, the snow went quick and the browns were hungry.  Early stained water was great fishing with scuds, bead heads, and midges.  Warmer temps and things clearing up gave way to huge BWO hatches and lots of fun on the dry flies.  Definitely one of the better seasons of fishing I've experienced.
